According to a research report released February of 2020 by Fresenius Medical Care, 65% percent of Americans say ‘aging in place’ is a goal of theirs.
Baby Boomers account for 78%!
Over 50% of patients discharged from the hospital go home on self-care. Equally high is the percentage of ‘preventable’ hospital readmissions that are coming from home. Many factors including social determinants of health (SDOH) stand in the way of aging in place and staying independent. ‘Home’ is a unique opportunity for physical activity interventions that can improve Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), mobility and transferring, increase muscle strength and endurance, decrease risk of falls, and improved exercise tolerance and functional ability.
Consider providing exercise and coaching to those that want to ‘age in place’ who can ‘exercise in place’!
